“I am really tired.”
A client said this to me in a session, and she said it while reaching the highest revenue year she ever had. Everything was going well and she was excited to see years of hard work paying off. But the daily intensity was wearing her out.
I watch this play out at the top of every field. Giving 200% is probably what made everything happen. What is finite is the amount she can now stretch and hold, and there are only so many hours in a day.
So I say to my clients: I want you to change your posture from the doer to receiver.
Receiving is the most misunderstood posture. It is not a synonym for “not doing.” It is resting in the trust that the success (in any shape or form, in any matter) is inevitable, because it is supported and agreed to by what needs to happen for you and also for the larger picture.
I described the sweet spot this way: you are having full anticipation, you are completely relaxed into the arms of God, and you are also moving the parts that you need to move, but not forcing. All three at once. The work continues, the decisions still get made, and everything is going the way it is supposed to at the right speed.
She realized that she was nervous of leaning: on her leadership, on her team, on her partner, and on God. When she experienced that she could, she started to rest.
In the receiver seat, what you need begins to come to you.
Another client described her before and after this way: “Before I felt like I was chasing after the facts, after the people. Now, I realized that people come to me and information presents itself in front of me.” Same woman, same standards. The chasing stopped being the mechanism of her achievement. With the certainty that she is on the right trajectory and it does not originate from her desire alone, she started to be open to the incoming support.
And the timing will test your trust, so I will name it now. Sometimes when we are not moving, we are moving the fastest. Seemingly nothing is tangible yet, but in the unseen world things are happening really fast. To the doer, a week when nothing happened is a lost week. The receiver lets the intangible finish forming.
Here is the practice you can do tomorrow morning, and it takes 1 minute. Think about a giant bean bag, and throw yourself in completely, relax and let it carry your day. From that carried place, get up and live and do the parts you are responsible for. Then watch what comes to you during the day that you did not arrange. That is your evidence, and it is how the trust gets built, one at a time.
The deeper version of this work is energetic. Releasing the interference for the fullness of energy and materializing the vision to come forth is the work I do with clients directly. That adds speed to the shift.
You have already proven everything the doer can build. Building from rest and trust is the next step, and you can always receive the abundance of support.
